University Pathway Programs: Academic English

Academic English courses are designed for people interested in further studies (vocational training or university studies) in Australia, New Zealand or other English speaking countries.

On average, courses are between 10 and 15 weeks in duration, and require a minimum English level.
There are modalities: Academic English- Direct Entry, or Academic English plus IELTS preparation.

Both programs combine general English language development with specific language skills and techniques required to be able to study at a higher education level in English:

– General and academic English vocabulary development.
– Practice and extension of skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
– Acquisition of the required skills to undertake further studies in Australia or New Zealand (listening and note
taking; reading and academic writing; vocabulary extension; report and essays writing)
– Research skills
– IELTS preparation

Direct Entry or Bridging Program

If you study your Academic English course at the centre where you will study your further education course or an affiliated centre, you will most likely have direct entry into the vocational training or university program i.e. you will not have to sit the IELTS exam.
