Looking for a city without the hustle and bustle of a big metropolis and with quality of life to learn English? We suggest choosing Hobart

After Sydney, Hobart, founded in 1804 by Colonel David Collins, is the oldest city in Australia

Located at the foot of Mount Wellington, and with a population of 190,000 inhabitants, it has an incomparable  quality of life and it’s less stressful than other Australian cities. Lonely Planet Guide has placed Tasmania in the fourth position of the Top 10 regions to visit in the world.

Many of the stone buildings, which were built in the early years, are preserved nowadays and converted into cafés, art galleries or restaurants.

Hobart is known worldwide for the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race which starts in Sydney the day after Christmas (Boxing Day).  The arrival in Hobart is celebrated during the Taste of Tasmania Festival, a summer food festival that starts the last week of December until the beginning of January every year.

What not to miss…

Hobart has a mild oceanic temperature climate with four seasons. The warmest months are December, January, February and March with average temperatures of  21ºC, a perfect time to enjoy outdoors activities.

In winter the days can be cold, with temperatures between 3°C and 11°C and very little rainfall. Although it´s not usual to see snow in winter, Mount  Wellington is often white in this season.
